Shape XXL : inordinate length (11' to 12'+) with tapered outline promoting glide - moderate width (~23″) along the entire length to keep control.
Very weak rocker and uniform on 90 % of the board, just smoothly raised from the rear not to planting the tail on bends.
Carene : soft roll/vee front which extends into a panel vee very subtle tailspread over more than 12′ of track - as much as to say almost flat to the eyebut sufficient for steer this great length.
Classic 50/50 trackthick enough on the front third for the buoyancy.
Tail : round pin tail or stretched pintailindispensable for keeping grip on large faces and facilitate the trajectory (a 12′ square tail would stall).
Huge volume (> 100 L) but well distributed: many under the rowing chestless underfoot for feel the wave.
We also note a very light natural flex due to the length (and often heavy glassage 8+6oz) - resulting in a feeling alive under the wave despite its size.
Trim-loving surfers of all levels.
Surprisingly, one heavy beginner could find a super ally (enormous stability, easy take-off), but the size can be intimidating.
It is above all popular with experienced longboarders looking for the ultimate glide.
Perfect for those who love Alaia or finless retro boardsbut with the end safety and volume.
Also, the occasional tandem enthusiasts or "party wave" duo can have fun with it.
Excels in long, gentle waves ideal one day of small clean swell on a point break or a spot like Waikiki.
He part on 30 cm softand remains controllable up to 2 m smooth (where it becomes a gun in itself!).
Not for the violent trough (too big for tube).
It can be used in slightly choppy onshore conditions just for the glider funbut it's on the glassy that reveals its magic.
In short: take it out when lacks punch and you want effortless slider... or when it's ultra-perfect and you want a panoramic view of the wave in trim.
Single fin of course (usually US housing with special glider daggerboard).
We prefer a long centerboard (10″ to 11″) type "Spitfire or Hatchet to maximize control on this long length.
Some gliders can be surfed finlessbut here an aileron is recommended for all non-expert surfers finless.
No side dicks - that would put sides on a 12′?
